(via ‘Watchmen’ Prequel Announced by DC Comics)
I’m not that interested in discussions about the ethics of publishing prequels to Watchmen. It was bound to happen. Moore is going to hate DC forever whether they do it or not, and there’s money to be made, so why wouldn’t they do it?
There’s one little thing I am curious about, though. Ozymandias was the only queer Watchmen character who wasn’t explicitly outed in the text (other than being suspected by a paranoid rightwinger), but he’s clearly gay. Now that he’s getting his own miniseries, will his sexuality remain subtextual, will he be officially outed, or will he be retroactively heterosexualized? His portrayal in this preview art leads me to doubt it will be the third thing.
